La Candelaria, Bogotá's colonial heart, is an open-air museum: wooden balconies, steep cobbled streets and over 50 museums concentrated in a few blocks.

Bogotá lives its rituals: corner coffee with costilla broth at dawn, the Usaquén flea market on Sundays and the ciclovía — 120 km of streets closed every Sunday for cyclists and skaters — the largest in the world.

Monserrate Hill rises 3,152 meters above the city: its white sanctuary, visited by pilgrims since 1640, crowns Bogotá's most commanding panoramic view over the savanna stretching to the horizon.

Bogotá is Colombia's golf capital: Los Lagartos, El Rancho, La Serena and the Country Club form the country's most prestigious championship circuit, with altitude's unique advantage — the ball flies up to 15% farther at 2,600 meters.
